‘’Connie’s Carers was established in 2007 to look after a member of the founder’s own family, so when a freak accident immobilized me, I contacted them with every confidence in the company’s  focus and experience.

They dealt swiftly and at very short notice with an unusual situation:  Namely caring for a centenarian member of my own family whilst I was hospitalized and later for both of us in our respective homes whilst I recovered.    For eight weeks they worked seamlessly between the two houses with practicality, sensitivity and cheerfulness.   The reliability of service was exemplary –  management stepping in to cover when necessary  – and I  felt completely safe and comfortable with the staffs’ level of experience.

Over and above the expected ‘medical & caring’ aspect of the service however, was the huge peace of mind they gave by willingness to carry out ancillary, but essential tasks such as meals, feeding pets, watering house plants, and occasional shopping.   They kept two households running smoothly and two clients happy.

“When my wife, Jane, was diagnosed with a brain tumour and given 2 to 3 months to live it was her wish and her family’s promise that she should spend those last few months in her own home. This was made easier by the regular attendance of two of Connies Carers. They came in each morning to get her up and ready for the day and showed a wonderful understanding of her needs. Later, when her condition deteriorated, they also came in each afternoon. ‘’Connie’s Carers came to my attention when we required help and support during my mother’s need for additional care during her final weeks of an aggressive terminal illness.  Initially this came in the form of an overnight sitter but ultimately this was ramped up to 24/7 care, and despite the short notice and difficult staffing circumstances, Connie’s Carers were able to rise to the occasion and provide the vast majority of the additional care required.  As a result there were a number of carers coming and going, all were of a very high standard and quality, very professional and friendly, and all able to care for mother in her time of need.  Totally unprompted one or two even went the extra mile and cooked my father a hot breakfast from time to time!!  Connie’s Carers always worked in conjunction with Community Services to provide a seamless service and care and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them and provide this testimonial gladly.’’

Nothing was too much trouble, from regular home visits from both Paula and her fabulous team of carers no matter what time of day or night, advising on and sourcing much-needed equipment to help Dad, liaising with the Hospital, explaining what was happening every step of the way, and just being there for hugs and tears, Paula and her Team were a God send, and I can’t thank them enough. “I enlisted the help of Connie’s Carers for the first time in 2015 after my elderly mother contracted shingles with subsequent painful complications. She was living in her own home at the time but as I permanently reside in the UK I could not be around to help her on a daily basis. We started with a couple of hours daily to lend a hand with simple needs such as cooking, shopping and cleaning. She also required a driver to take her to some medical appointments.

Gradually, over the next two years, her needs increased as she became more frail and confused, Connie’s Carers were able to assist by providing essential requirements, company and support in all areas of her life. They administered her frequently changing medication with due diligence and were always kind, patient, capable, responsible and sensitive to her feelings.

Connie’s Carers provided a team of assistants and never failed to turn up for their individual shifts. My mother got to know them individually and they also kept me in touch with any changes in her condition. I had complete faith in their judgment. I could not have asked for more dedication and would unreservedly recommend Connie’s Carers to anyone with elderly friends or relatives, knowing that you could be confident of a first class service in your own home.”

Professional Standard: through-out the care period the staff employed by Connies Carers who regularly attended were competent in all required skills. Similarly the management of the organisation were exemplar operating effectively and efficiently, keeping me informed as to the wellbeing of their client. We were never let down, with management at times stepping in at the last moment. Being able to have confidence in the professional standard of care was more than just reassuring it was essential in the circumstance, and was delivered above expectation.

Social Care: our client enjoyed a unique social life with many visitors comprising of friends and family. Carers were hospitable, friendly and when required discreet. In short they were good hosts in all situations.

Compassion: I use this noun in the true sense. They were sympathetic and genuinely concerned recognising suffering and misfortune. The carer sat at the bedside as life passed and was able to offer sincere support and at a time of grief for which I will always remain grateful.

The cover provided by Connie’s Carers from the very beginning was professional with the right level of patience and understanding as to the needs of an independent lady who after a period of time understood and appreciated how your staff were able to help her in her daily life.

There is no doubt that she appreciated the friendly and caring way in which your staff dealt with the needs and when she became less well this was invaluable and this was provided with a great deal of dignity. The assistance provided by the staff and Paula was never seen as providing “a service” but more as a dedicated group of people taking care of someone in their last few weeks.

We cannot thank everyone enough for their dedication and support over the last six months which allowed Mum to remain at home for as long as was physically possible. “Connie’s Carers looked after my wife during the last 21 months of her life. During that period she suffered from strokes and seizures, dementia and cancer. As her illness progressed so her daily care increased from four hours in the morning and four hours in the afternoon. During those dark days, the carers were an outstanding support and help to both my wife and myself. Without exception, their care was of the highest level; they demonstrated great patience and perseverance under demanding conditions, and nothing was too much trouble. They attended Anglican Church Services, despite many being Roman Catholic; they pushed her around on long walks in her wheelchair; they talked to her and encouraged her and played her favourite music. They brought her little gifts which gave her so much pleasure and made her liquid feed so she could eat – they had enormous reserves of love and care.
