Mrs D St Peters, Guernsey - May 2021 – June 2021

‘’Connie’s Carers was established in 2007 to look after a member of the founder’s own family, so when a freak accident immobilized me, I contacted them with every confidence in the company’s  focus and experience.

They dealt swiftly and at very short notice with an unusual situation:  Namely caring for a centenarian member of my own family whilst I was hospitalized and later for both of us in our respective homes whilst I recovered.    For eight weeks they worked seamlessly between the two houses with practicality, sensitivity and cheerfulness.   The reliability of service was exemplary –  management stepping in to cover when necessary  – and I  felt completely safe and comfortable with the staffs’ level of experience.

Over and above the expected ‘medical & caring’ aspect of the service however, was the huge peace of mind they gave by willingness to carry out ancillary, but essential tasks such as meals, feeding pets, watering house plants, and occasional shopping.   They kept two households running smoothly and two clients happy.

I could not have wished for a more supportive and professional experience at a stressful   time and am more than happy to recommend the company. ‘’

Sid T Forest, Guernsey - Feb 2019 – June 2021

‘’Connies Carers are an extremely well run and professional team.

I am very happy to recommend their services.’’

Jeremy S Vale, Guernsey - Dec 2020 – May 2021

“When my wife, Jane, was diagnosed with a brain tumour and given 2 to 3 months to live it was her wish and her family’s promise that she should spend those last few months in her own home. This was made easier by the regular attendance of two of Connies Carers. They came in each morning to get her up and ready for the day and showed a wonderful understanding of her needs. Later, when her condition deteriorated, they also came in each afternoon. I and the family have nothing but the highest praise for the dedication, hard work, compassion and friendliness of the carers. Thank you all for helping to make Jane’s last months more comfortable and being with us to the end.”

Steve St Peter Port, Guernsey - Oct 2021 – Nov 2021

‘’Connie’s Carers came to my attention when we required help and support during my mother’s need for additional care during her final weeks of an aggressive terminal illness.  Initially this came in the form of an overnight sitter but ultimately this was ramped up to 24/7 care, and despite the short notice and difficult staffing circumstances, Connie’s Carers were able to rise to the occasion and provide the vast majority of the additional care required.  As a result there were a number of carers coming and going, all were of a very high standard and quality, very professional and friendly, and all able to care for mother in her time of need.  Totally unprompted one or two even went the extra mile and cooked my father a hot breakfast from time to time!!  Connie’s Carers always worked in conjunction with Community Services to provide a seamless service and care and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them and provide this testimonial gladly.’’

Sue L St Peters, Guernsey - Jan 2022 – Feb 2022

‘’Grateful thanks to Connies carers for their professional care for my dear friend Peter. The kind, non judgmental approach was greatly appreciated and the willingness to listen to the clients wants rather than dictate convention was marvellous. Over and above as well as popping in and out, Thanks to all his carers, especially Marie’’

Faye G Forest, Guernsey - Feb 2022 – Mar 2022

‘’I cannot speak highly enough of Connie’s Carers. When my beloved Dad was in his last weeks of life, Paula and her wonderful team swung into action and rescued our family from a very dark time. Nothing was too much trouble, from regular home visits from both Paula and her fabulous team of carers no matter what time of day or night, advising on and sourcing much-needed equipment to help Dad, liaising with the Hospital, explaining what was happening every step of the way, and just being there for hugs and tears, Paula and her Team were a God send, and I can’t thank them enough. They were so incredibly kind to Dad and treated him with nothing but complete respect and dignity. They are unsung heroes and I cannot thank them enough.’’

Jan R Sussex, England - Feb 2015- June 2017

“I enlisted the help of Connie’s Carers for the first time in 2015 after my elderly mother contracted shingles with subsequent painful complications. She was living in her own home at the time but as I permanently reside in the UK I could not be around to help her on a daily basis. We started with a couple of hours daily to lend a hand with simple needs such as cooking, shopping and cleaning. She also required a driver to take her to some medical appointments.

Gradually, over the next two years, her needs increased as she became more frail and confused, Connie’s Carers were able to assist by providing essential requirements, company and support in all areas of her life. They administered her frequently changing medication with due diligence and were always kind, patient, capable, responsible and sensitive to her feelings.

Connie’s Carers provided a team of assistants and never failed to turn up for their individual shifts. My mother got to know them individually and they also kept me in touch with any changes in her condition. I had complete faith in their judgment. I could not have asked for more dedication and would unreservedly recommend Connie’s Carers to anyone with elderly friends or relatives, knowing that you could be confident of a first class service in your own home.”

Andrew Ozanne OBE, BA Hons Dip Arch (Oxford) RIBA MCI Arb ACA ADR St Saviours - 2015-2019

“I am pleased to be asked to write a testimonial in respect of Connies Carers, who I have engaged over a period of 4 years to care for an elderly person who had suffered a stroke and hip fracture.”

Professional Standard: through-out the care period the staff employed by Connies Carers who regularly attended were competent in all required skills. Similarly the management of the organisation were exemplar operating effectively and efficiently, keeping me informed as to the wellbeing of their client. We were never let down, with management at times stepping in at the last moment. Being able to have confidence in the professional standard of care was more than just reassuring it was essential in the circumstance, and was delivered above expectation.

Social Care: our client enjoyed a unique social life with many visitors comprising of friends and family. Carers were hospitable, friendly and when required discreet. In short they were good hosts in all situations.

Compassion: I use this noun in the true sense. They were sympathetic and genuinely concerned recognising suffering and misfortune. The carer sat at the bedside as life passed and was able to offer sincere support and at a time of grief for which I will always remain grateful.

Praise is hard earned and with Connies Carers it is truly deserved”.

Advocate Geoff Allez St Peter Port, Guernsey - 2007 - 2015

“Dear Paula, I write to express my appreciation for all the care and consideration given by your staff to a person suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for whose welfare I was responsible.

It was clear to me that he had great affection for your carers whose attention to him at all times was both professional and friendly.”

Tina S Forest, Guernsey - 2019 - 2020

“I could not have asked for a better team of carers than Connie’s Carers to help me look after Mum. Initially was three morning a week, to help with bathing and light housework. ~The carer assigned to her was outstanding, in friendliness, patience, being sympathetic, supportive and keeping me well informed. Being as Mum had dementia, the advice and ideas given to me in order to help Mum were very useful, helpful and much appreciated”.

” After an unexpected illness and stay in hospital, it became apparent that Mum needed a lot more care urgently in order to recover at home. Paula was so understanding of our urgent request and was efficient at quickly drawing up a timetable allocating carers to look after Mum.”

“Mum needed a carer to stay overnight and part morning and evening for the first two weeks. All the ladies that were assigned to her were excellent, highly skilled, respectful and supportive of Mums’ needs as she recovered. If the carers had concerns, I was informed quickly. This type of help was invaluable to myself, and the rest of the family. Just knowing that Mum was safe and in good hands helped us to worry less. As Mum recovered, the amount of care needed changed. Once again Paula organised the changes and quickly implemented Mums new requirements.”

“I would like to say a very big thank-you to Paula for her dedication, organisation and honest advice. Plus she was always on the other end of the phone, for help, and more advice if I need it”.

“Another Big thank-you also to all the ladies that looked after Mum. They truly are wonderful”.

Julia T St Peter Port, Guernsey - 2019 - 2020

“My Father was visited for over a year by Connie’s Carers for 2 hours a day at lunchtime. They recognised his changing needs, did their utmost to meet them and achieved outcomes the family were delight with. He was treated with respect, care and kindness. I wholeheartedly recommend Connie’s.”

“Thanks again for everything”.

Anna B Castel, Guernsey - April 2019 - January 2020

“Dear Paula, As we come to the end of our time as clients of Connie’s Carers, I just wanted to say thank-you for everything. We would not have been able to keep Mum at home until January without the care she had from her main carer, and during the Christmas period the carer who filled in for her.

Your Common Sense advice and help has also been much appreciated by myself.

Her Carer has been an absolute star. A big personality and even bigger heart! She has always gone the ‘the extra mile’ and we are so grateful to her.”

Michelle B Vale, Guernsey

“I found Connie’s Carers to be a caring and supportive service. Paula was able to organise all requests efficiently and professionally.

Thank-you.”

Marguerite T Castel, Guernsey - 2017

“Please pass on my gratitude to your carer for the way she worked with Auntie yesterday morning after her fall. She assessed the situation quickly and straightaway made her feel calmer. She certainly made the right decision to ask you to call and ambulance as Auntie was clearly in pain.

Your carer is a credit to Connies Carers.”

Marie S St Sampsons, Guernsey - Aug 2007-Jan 2012

“I would recommend anyone who is looking for care of their elderly relatives to consider Connie’s Carers. I was very satisfied with the service we received, I found everyone involved friendly, helpful, caring and willing to adapt to whatever the circumstances required.”

Ian M St Sampsons, Guernsey - Dec 2012 – 2018

“My Aunt has been supported by Connies Carer for nearly 5 years and we have been very happy with their people and service. They’ve never let us down and have always responded quickly to any emergency cover we need. Over the last 5 years Connies have been brilliant in providing my Aunt with a regular panel of carers, which is so important to her as they know and understand her routines and care requirements. I have no problem in recommending Connies Carers to provide support in the home.”

Joan W Castel, Guernsey - May 2010 – Nov 2015

“My late husband and I had carers from Connie’s Carers from May 2010 until he died in November 2015. Most of the carers were with us for some years and became good friends. My husband took to most of them and was no trouble. We felt they were part of the family, I would recommend Connie’s Carers to anyone.”

Andrew K Hertfordshire, England - Dec 2016 – Feb 2017

“Connie’s Carers were first class from start to finish, from the first phone call asking for their assistance at short notice through the next three months – their care and professionalism were excellent. Their administration staff were responsive and always helpful. The paperwork was always clear and easy to follow. The individual carers were highly experienced, always out us at our ease and gave great practical assistance with their caring skills but also provided much needed companionship and support at a worrying and difficult time. I can highly recommend Connie’s Carers.”

Anne P Surrey, England - Dec 2010 – Dec 2019

“Connie’s Carers have been caring for my mother since December 2010 and their care has been so she is now approaching her 102nd birthday. As I live in the UK it is vital and comforting to know that my mother will always be looked after 24/7 by the same people if her part time housekeeper is ill or away. Continuity is extremely important with carers who take her out for a drive and an ice cream and who are familiar with her home. I cannot recommend the ethos of the company and carers more highly.”

Stephen VDH England - Oct 2012 – Dec 15

“Connie’s Carers provided support for the last year of my wife’s father’s life. The initial daily care package was increased as necessary as his condition deteriorated until 24 Hours coverage with a live in Carer was in place up until the end. At all time Connie’s Carers provided sound advice and practical solutions to support and keep safe and comfortable an ailing and blind man while ensuring that he felt in control. There was a keen understanding of both the physical needs as well as emotional needs of a highly independent man, maintaining not only his comfort but his dignity for which we are truly grateful.

Communication with the family located in the UK was frequent and supportive ensuring that we understood the status of my father in law’s health and needs, although we visited frequently it was a great comfort to us to know that we would be kept up to date with any developments and requirements regarding his care, and he was in safe hands.

I would have no trouble recommending Connie’s Carers as a supportive and proactive care organisation that provide professional and understanding care in difficult situations and we will always be grateful for their understanding and flexible approach to what was a difficult time for all concerned.”

John A L Surrey England - 2012 - 2019

“We have been using Connie’s Carers since 2012 to help care for my elderly parents in their own home.

On an increasing basis they have provided morning, lunch and bedtime services, seamlessly blended with visits from States nurses.

They have delivered a totally reliable service, flexible to our needs, including on occasion overnight residency.

It is because of Connies that my parents have been able to stay in their own house despite increasing infirmity and medical needs.

We recommend them highly and am happy to speak directly with anyone considering their employ.”

Chris Bound St Peter Port, Guernsey - Sept 2014 – Sept 2020

“J W was a client and a friend for many years. It was always his wish that he should be able to enjoy his house, face the challenges of increasing maturity and finish his long life comfortably at home. This was achieved through the help and assistance of Connies Carers who befriended J by taking him out and about so that he was leading a normal life. Latterly, when J’s mobility and awareness declined he was cared for and supported so appropriately by Connies Carers at home and hence his long held wish was fulfilled.”

Mary B Vale, Guernsey - June 2018-July 2020

“I wholeheartedly recommend Connies Carers to support your family member in their own home. My mother was treated with kindness and compassion when she could no longer cope without extra help. The carers became close friends and she looked forward to their visits.”

The Tayler Family Vale, Guernsey - March 2020- Sept 2020

“Our family would happily recommend Connies Carers. Paula and her team worked hard to keep our father safe and happy. Our father was initially concerned at having new people around him however he quickly settled into the new routine and appreciated the help he received. He appreciated not only the physical help but also their cheerful company.
Paula and her team enabled our father to stay independent as long as was possible and allowed the family to relax a little knowing he had the help he needed.”

Jacqueline D Torteval, Guernsey - Aug 2020-Oct 2020

“Connie Carers were absolutely excellent in the care of my mum.
The fact that that it is the same person at a regular time slot in the morning cannot be under valued. This really enabled a better, more enhanced quality of life. The nursing staff are superb.
Paula was excellent in responding to our needs. Showed compassion and understanding.
They moved teams around in order to facilitate mum leaving hospital when the Doctor said that she could go home.
It made such a difference.”

Mrs V St Peters - July 2021 – November 2021

“When it became obvious that my Mum required additional help to ensure that she had the best possible care, although she wasn’t initially convinced of this, we met to understand what was possible to allow Mum to stay at home with a level of independence.

The cover provided by Connie’s Carers from the very beginning was professional with the right level of patience and understanding as to the needs of an independent lady who after a period of time understood and appreciated how your staff were able to help her in her daily life.

There is no doubt that she appreciated the friendly and caring way in which your staff dealt with the needs and when she became less well this was invaluable and this was provided with a great deal of dignity. The assistance provided by the staff and Paula was never seen as providing “a service” but more as a dedicated group of people taking care of someone in their last few weeks.

We cannot thank everyone enough for their dedication and support over the last six months which allowed Mum to remain at home for as long as was physically possible. There is no doubt that should we be approached in the future to recommend a “caring company” that we would do so without any hesitation.”

Mrs LS St Saviours - January 2022 – March 2022

“We would like to say a HUGE thank you to you personally and to all your team for all the tender loving care, respect and dignity shown to our dearly oved Mum who passed away after losing her battle with terminal cancer.

Mum slipped away from us with peace and dignity, and we can’t thank you enough for all the care shown to her whilst she was at home. You and the team just being there and also listening at the most difficult times made this final parting peaceful, which is what she would have wanted. Thank you also for your patience and understanding at this difficult time.  We salute you all and are extremely grateful for all your hard work.”

Peter V St. Sampson’s - May 2020 – December 2021

“Connie’s Carers looked after my wife during the last 21 months of her life. During that period she suffered from strokes and seizures, dementia and cancer. As her illness progressed so her daily care increased from four hours in the morning and four hours in the afternoon. During those dark days, the carers were an outstanding support and help to both my wife and myself. Without exception, their care was of the highest level; they demonstrated great patience and perseverance under demanding conditions, and nothing was too much trouble. They attended Anglican Church Services, despite many being Roman Catholic; they pushed her around on long walks in her wheelchair; they talked to her and encouraged her and played her favourite music. They brought her little gifts which gave her so much pleasure and made her liquid feed so she could eat – they had enormous reserves of love and care.

My family and I would wish to put on record our most grateful thanks to Connie’s Carers for their outstanding help during those dark days. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who should have need for their services.”

Erica R London - February 2022 – May 2022

“I have insufficient words to express my gratitude, admiration and respect for Connie’s Carers – that goes for Paula and all of her staff.  The service provided to my parents went above and beyond and without a shadow doubt gave my parents a more dignified, a more comfortable and much happier end of life.  Paula,  in particular was able to win over my stubborn father and my somewhat irascible mother very quickly with her pragmatism, empathy and positivity. The individual carers with their different strengths worked wonders with my parents firmly but with kindness and compassion at all times.  Whilst I spent a lot of time with my parents and the carers, I live in London and it was a great comfort to know that my parents were in such good hands.  A very, very big thank you from me and the rest of my family.”
